Exercise is Boring!

Thursday, March 05, 2009

I'm still having a really hard time making myself exercise. I though maybe getting up early and getting it out of the way would help. I walked as soon as I got up yesterday. I hated it! It was pretty hot today, (up in the 80s) so I talked myself out of walking again. Is anyone surprised that I've lost and regained the same pound several times over the last week or two? I'm not sure what it is going to take to re-motivate me.

I was doing good with exercising on my gazelle. But then my right knee started hurting.

Maybe I was doing too much for my age. LOL . I'll be 63 this year.

It's probably arthritis. I need to have it checked by my doctor. I am having a lot of
pain going up and down steps.

I'm not a real big fan of exercise, either. I can think of many things that I'd rather do. But, since I've already had one heart attack, the exercising beats laying in a hospital bed, again.

Find something you can enjoy doing. I found that I truly do enjoy riding a bike: It's great cardio, the scenery changes constantly, and it gives me time out in the middle of nowhere with nobody but myself.

    Suzy,
Try subscribng to Spark Exercise of the Day. You'd be surprised how many I've come across where I've said, "Hey, I can do THAT!" Doesn't Ft. Worth have a great downtown area? Try walking there instead of your neighborhood. I know about the heat (I live in Florida!), so pretend it's a sauna.

Exercise isn't just doing crunches and squats. It's heavy duty cleaning, moving boxes (rearrange your living room!), weeding (I'm sure there are weeds in your yard!), roller blading, even folding clothes and carrying groceries. There are numerous ways you can exercise without calling it "exercise." Think outside the box! You'll find your groove yet!!!

    Blessings,

Hey Suzy. Hang in there. I used to HATE exercise. I made every excuse to not do it. That was the last time around (about 2 years ago) Now, I am starting to enjoy exercise. I'm not sure why it is different this time, but I even have a gym membership now. (I am actually using it!) Just try several different things and you will find something you like to do.
