Menopause at 43

Thursday, March 12, 2009

So as I woke up this morning in a pool of reality after a dreadful 3 weeks of wondering how come... I've come to realize that at 43 I will never have any children. And I got angry. I have turned my life around for the past almost 10 years now and I have overcome addiction, now weight control... but how do you overcome the fact that you will never become a MOM. I have a loving man in my life and I guess I was being hopeful that one day we would be a family.

I have accomplished and learned so much in this life's process that I was truly ready to experience the ultimate challenge. But Perimenopause as it is called confirmed to me this morning that this will not be a part of my life. What is a girl or woman to do when you feel on top of the world and still can't really get there?

I FEEL CHEATED!!
An angry 43 year old who has overcome many challenges.

It's not over til it's over!! You have NEVER given up on you so don't you start now! Just cause your getting to the menopause doesn't mean there is NO chance.

And if the day comes that there is no chance... a friend of mine adopted a Russian baby and she is adorable. Like Jazmine said from a quote she loved "Don't tell me the sky is the limit, because there are foot prints on the moon".

I know just how you feel. I went through menopause at 27 after having my daughter. I felt very cheated that I wasn't able to have the big family that I wanted and since I was so young all my friends were, and still are, having babies. While it is true that I was blessed with a wonderful daughter I was devastated when I learned I wasn't going to be having any more. Sometimes what God has planned for us is not what we want and it can be very hard to accept. I wish you all the best emoticon Take care.
