I sit here at my computer amazed for so many reasons that I can't count. But the one that is getting me the most today is that I am learning from my 3 year old. I know it sounds funny, I'm supposed to be teaching her, right? And I do, but each day I sit back in the evening and think, WOW she is teaching me so much. Here's some examples:
She always looks in the mirror and says : I look gorgeous!" In a very amazed voice. Now she could have the most horrible bed hair you have ever seen and right now she has pink eye, but none of that matters - she is gorgeous and she knows it! AMAZING
She eats when she is hungry and stops when she is full! Even if it's a bowl of ice cream in front of her, she will tell me she is done and get up and leave some there because she simply isn't hungry anymore! AMAZING
She can have fun even when she can't go and play somewhere. Her newest game is chasing our little dog in a circle around the house. Sometimes she is in the lead and sometimes the dog is, but today, she got laughing so hard duing the game of running in a circle that she fell down and laughed and laughed! AMAZING
When she asks for something that she really wants and I tell her "no" she replies with "Oh well." and moves on to the next thing. And there always is a next thing, but she is fine with what she has and who she is, so all the stuff she wants is just gravy! AMAZING
I could go on and on, but here's the message in this for me. The people in our life that we look to teach us and guide us can sometimes let you down. Our role models in life are not always as perfect and great as we make them out to be, and what do we do when they let us down? But sometimes, in the most unexpected places, in the smallest and simplest of people, in the little 3 year old that I can't love and hug enough, You find the very best teacher of the lessons that are really important - Love yourself the way you are, give your body the nourishment that it needs and don't go overboard simply because it's there, have fun where you are don't wait to go someplace fun, be happy with what you have and relish in what each day gives you, don't pine for what could have been or what you don't have! I love my little girl...or should I call her my little teacher!

Kids are so wonderful. We should learn from them because they teach us so much of what we have forgotten. You are right, you are blessed.

What a great blog! So positive and inspiring! It really made me smile while I was reading it, and then made me think afterward.

You're wise to see these things that your young daughter is "teaching" you. What a nice family you have!

God's messengers come in all shapes and sizes. I was a teacher for 25 years and many times I felt like the student. It's so wonderful that you are tuned in to your daughter. She's very lucky to have you as her mom and vice versa.

    Have a great week!

Isn't it amazing what we learn from our children? I am so grateful for my kids. They will be my redemption and the reason for my resurrection for sure. I would not try to save myself if it were not for them.

Thank you for posting to my blog.....I was feeling totally crappy yesterday and when you feel your self start to slide it is a scary feeling.....Getting back in control is the way to go...and I agree that adding your slips to the calorie counter is great i do , do that to remind me through out the week or else it is forgotten....I am the proud mama of a beautiful 10month old boy (Ethan) the light of my life and I want to do this for him and me.....don't want to be the "fat mom" and the one that can't keep up with her son.....I still lost a pound this week despite the binging for 2 days so I must have done something right this week...must have been all the tae-bo....I wish you luck in reaching your goals...
