No Cake and No Regret

Tuesday, April 07, 2009

How much cake and Icecream can one family eat? This week is a little screwy for my daughters birthday. Her actual Birthday is today and she turns 15. But today is the day that I have bootcamp and Dana has a 4 hour first aid and cpr class. Both are necessary.
This weekend she went away with her BFF to the cape so when she got home on Sunday I made a stuffed pork loin roast and whipped sweet potatoes with nutmeg and cinnamon,(she loves both), and a salad with plenty of Hidden valley Ranch dressing. We followed it with a chunky monkey p.b. roll from Friendlies. She was in Heaven. Everything was good for me, I just had a different dressing and a skinny cow icecream sandwich. NO regrets, good planning.
Last night was the extended family with cousin, aunts and uncles. I made a huge sauce with meatballs and sausage. Then I made 2 kinds of pasta, regular and wheat. Huge salad...
Again, cake and icecream for all. I opted again for my skinny cow. Amy was so good, I did not see her eat either and the cake was homemade. I am so proud of her! We have made it through the worst.
Tonight the night of the actual Birthday we will be going to the gym, my daughter is coming too. So the night of the actual birthday, I will burning off those skinny cows.
I guess that if your mind is in the right place, you plan, you can get through the toughest of situations. I have had a lot thrown at me this month. Is there ever a good time to try to lose weight? Is there ever a good time to try to work out? I think I can find a million excuses. I have had 18 years experience of making them. But, I am tired of making them because I know that I am worth the time and effort to lose this weight and win this battle.
My journey continues one challenge at a time.....

You are so amazing! And a great testimonial to the power of planning and a little self discipline. Two opportunities to pig out and you didn't. Nor did you make everyone else miserable with your food choices. And now tonight you and Amy and your daughter all head off to the gym together. What a great couple of days for you.

I hope you feel victorious. You deserve a laurel crown, but this is the best I can do... emoticon

Great job!!! It can be tough saying no sometimes, especially around family events. I was at a baby shower this past weekend and said no to a heavenly looking slice of chocolate cake. I was even PMSing... that chocolate looked wonderful, lol. But it was so amazing walking out of there and saying to myself "I DID IT!!!" It's awesome you and your daughter are doing it together too, what a great support and opprotunity to bond, can't beat that :)
