Here I am again...a 2nd chance, with a new perspective!

Well I tried to start up again in January and that worked about as well as trying to make a rock float. Then, on March 3rd, I took my husband to the ER for a temp of 104.9 and he ended up getting admitted and being there for 3 weeks! He almost died 2 times due to complications related to his obesity. It was a horrible, horrible roller coaster of good and bad days. The doctors all said that, if he doesn't loose weight now, he will die the next time he gets this sick (as his organs won't be able to handle the stress).
The whole situation and the very blunt conversation with one of the doctors gave me a whole new perspective on my involvement with my husband's health. I sit here now telling you all that I am a recovering enabler! I no longer will enable my husband to kill himself with food!
While he was in the hospital, the doctors had him on a very strict diet (once he was eating food again). I tried to eat similar while he was there, so it wouldn't be such a change to me, when he came home. I threw out (or gave away) all the sugar in our house and bought Splenda. I also got rid of any foods that were high in sodium and/or sugar.
Since he has been home, we have stayed to eating healthier foods. I buy lots of fruit and veggies...and we EAT THEM!!! (unusual, for us!) We did have pizza once, but we only ordered a small for all 3 of us to share and had salad with it.
I am SOOOOOOOO proud of my husband and the changes he has made for his health! And I pray that I can continue to be supportive and loving, as I have been given a whole new perspective/understanding for my husband and how I can be there for him. I just hope I can be as courageous as he has been and continues to be with this battle!
