I joined spark people back in August '08, but was already 2 mos pregnant.
My youngest is now 7.5 weeks old. While this was my hardest pregnancy ever (5th pregnancy carried full-term to birth), it was my easiest recovery. Probably because I delivered 3 weeks early and he was a little guy. (Popped right out before the doc entered the room!)
About 3 weeks ago, I was feeling pretty yucky about myself (at least about my weight). My husband assured me that I was stressing a little too early after deliver to become obsessed, but encouraged me to start walking to "Get out of the house" a little every day. I started walking everyday (even Sat and Sun) with a friend. So far we only average about 1 mile every evening, and 1/2 mile on Sundays, but it has been good for my health and my sanity. My hubby remarked last night how my energy level has shot through the roof, even with getting up for 3am and 6am feedings! This week I added in step aerobics, but have only completed 2 days so far, so I'm still becoming familiar with the steps/motions.
I haven't really been counting calories per say, but really focused this week on trying to eat healthier (with the exception of last night's pizza!) and incorporating more veggie. Poor son, since I'm nursing, he has suffered a few belly-aches from my adding them a little too quickly.
My post-partum check up was on Monday, and my BP seems to be getting better, but I'm still weaning of the BP meds. Another 2 weeks and I should be off them.
My weight was within a few pounds of pre-pregnancy, so that's a good starting point. I've ordered a scale for home, and saw it was finally shipped this week. (My old one broke while I was pregnant, so why do you think I didn't bother to replace it until now?!!!)
I'm ecstatic about my energy. I feel great and more able to accomplish my household and homeschool duties as well as my church duties. (My husband is a Pastor, so I'm the secretary by default!)
I don't take the credit for the way I feel. I pray every day for the strength and determination to keep going. I thank the Lord and my husband for helping me get a good start back to being healthy again!
I do have a goal in mind...8 pounds by May 23, my baby sister's wedding. Lot's of people I haven't seen in a while, and I want my body to represent that I was made in the image of my creator, a body not destroyed by selfishness and gluttony!
