Weekend Update

Monday, June 08, 2009

Wow - what a crazy weekend! I really could have taken today off but no luck :(

I have to say that I am 12 days Binge/Cookie/Cake/Candy free - I have NEVER gone that long that I can remember! WOO HOO! Two thumbs up for hypnosis!! YAY!

Saturday I had one of my super busy days. DD was at her dad's so I taught 2 classes at the Y from 7:30 am - 10:30 am. I even used one of my Sparkpeople cards to give to a lady who is struggling with losing weight even though she is exercising. I think she may not be eating enough or blowing it during the weekend. I really hope she joins.

Then I went to the store to get some fresh fruits (I love this time of year as I said). Well - lo-and-behold they had a buy 1 shoe get one for $1! I have a dog who last year chewed up at least 8 pairs of shoes of mine so I got 4 really cute pairs of shoes for $40! I wouldn't have gotten any if they weren't cute but they were so nice! I rode that high for a bit :) I have worn a new pair of shoes the last 3 days - LOL. Yes, I did buy fresh fruit too - papaya, mango, canataloupe, honeydew, grapes, strawberries, bluberries and strawberries! I had some of it all today!

Came home and the bf met me here. I mowed the grass while he folded clothes, then I planted all my poor drying out and dying petunias that I had been neglecting into planters. I used up all my planters and potting soil so I hope that they all survive. Petunias are a hardy flower so they should come back if I keep them watered - I hope! Then I weeded in the veggie garden and in the flower beds and I watered the flowers and garden. Whew. He such a sweetie because when he finished the laundry he cut up and prepped all my fruit so I can take it work. We cut it up, make several kinds of fruit salads, and eat all that glorious fruit all week long!

We ran out to grab a bite to eat and I had a wonderful penne pasta with a sundried tomoto sauce (tomato based) and I passed on dessert!!!! BF got baklava and it didn't even bother me to watch him eat it. It's like all my diet rage has been taken away. SOOOO wonderful!

Sunday I had my 10K race and I did it in 1:05:08! WOO HOO!! I was so pleased with that time especially since I have the issues with my left knee and right ankle. I kept it at a steady 4 minutes run/1 minute walk for the most part. I felt great at the end and was able to go faster that last 1.2 miles :) I really could have kept going!

Then it was plant tomatoes and peppers (first time I've ever gotten good ones from seed). I'm a little behind but the seedlings were small and I wanted them to get bigger before I planted them into the garden. I think they are all looking good. I have tomatoes EVERYWHERE! Garden, flower beds, etc. :) I need more tomato cages now. SIGH. Keep your fingers crossed that they all do well!

Finally we all went out to eat to celebrate my dd's sraight a's and to say goodbye to my bf's son who is going away to boot camp! He's 17, going to be 18 in July, and after the 9-10 week bootcamp will come back to finish HS.

That's it - I'm pooped and glad to be back at work where I can rest! LOL.

My past two weekends have been like that and it took until Wednesday to feel 'normal.' This past weekend I decided to take a little downtime and it's paid dividends. Sometimes we all get caught up in staying so busy that we forget that our bodies need rest just as much as exercise.

Glad the 10K went so well and that everything is in the garden.

Whew, I'm tired just from reading this! You are so lucky to have a man who folds laundry and prepares healthy foods for you!! Can I borrow him??

I have all the fruits you mentioned here too, except papaya (looks pretty, but there's something about how it tastes that just doesn't appeal...) and honeydew. But I just ate some crisp red grapes - YUM.

Congrats on the straight As and the shoes. :)
