Yellow Roses

Monday, June 22, 2009

This is a true story told to me by the
run-a-way man who called from Alaska
3/22/03, to where I work.
Funny thing is he didn't place an order
he was looking for a product.
Then he began telling me this story.
I would like to share it with you.

~~~~~~yellow roses~~~~~~~~~~
He ran from the law, an innocent man.
Accused and he had done no wrong.
He was branded a wanted man so
he ran.
With his dog sled hitched up he made
way for the highest mountains.
Where he settled and called it home.
A little log cabin nestled between the
trees.
The winters were long and the darkness
seemed liked it lasted forever.
As he now called his home Alaska.
Where run-a-ways go, and warlocks
exist, and they all mingle in with
each other known as the misfits.
On the other side of the mountain there
lived a grieving widow woman.
Everyday she dressed in black and would
go to town.
She would bring a yellow rose and place
it on top of her beloveds stone.
She would sit there talking to him.
How she missed him and longed to be
with him someday.
As her tears fell silently with no sound.
She would pat the ground with her hand
saying, "dear I am doing fine, I have good
news to tell you today.
The widow woman and the run-a-way
man did not know of each other.
As the mountain stood between them.
This day he chose to go to town,
to stock up on supplies for the winter.
As he aproached the store, he saw
a woman standing on the boardwalk.
As he was about to leave he spotted
yellow roses sitting in a tub of water.
He glanced out the store window, the
woman was still standing there.
As he felt his heart grow soft.
He chose a dozen yellow roses making
his way out the door.
He walked down the boardwalk to her.
He stood in front of her handing her the
yellow roses.
She looked at him and said,"my beloved
husband would bring me home a yellow
rose everyday."
She took the yellow roses and asked,
"do I know you?" He answered,"no ma'am."
Tears filling her eyes,a faint quivering smile.
He turned and as he started to walk
away, he looked back and said,"these
are from someone who is thinking of
you today."
