A LAZY JUNE DAY
A couple while sitting in their swing
on the porch, were napping.
The day was hot, a mild breeze
blowing on this lazy June day.
The swing went back and forth,
back and forth with a squeaking
sound.
Slightly opening his eyes Ben says,
"one of these days I have to fix
this squeak."
Then the phone rang, Jane rose
to go answer it.
She hollars, "Ben it's for you, it's
the Pastor calling."
Ben grunts being disturbed and takes
the call.
The only words Ben spoke were,
"uh huh, ok, I will."
Jane looked at him puzzled, asking?
"What did the Pastor want?"
Ben answers Jane. "wants to see us
more often in church."
"We went once this month," Jane
blurts out.
Ben, "I know."
"We will go next Sunday," says Ben.
Ben went back to sit in the swing,
as he did it broke.
Jane at this time was making dinner,
it burned.
Ben happened to look at their car,
it had a flat tire.
Jane had clothes hanging on the
line to dry.
A big gust of wind came along
and got them dirty.
Looking at each other in unison,
they said, "what is going on."
Jane replies, "I think God is
sending us a message."
Ben asks, "what might that be?"
"We ought better attend church
next Sunday." Jane says.
And might I add says Jane, "unless
we are dying, sick, or dead,
we have no excuses to stay home."
Together they agreed to attend church.
Staying home was a disaster.
Sunday came, they went to church
and the Pastor said, "nice to see
you."
"You too pastor, not safe to stay
home."
