2009 Freedom Run 15k Race, my 2nd time running it!

Tuesday, July 07, 2009

Well this is me running this which was my first race ever last year now coming full circle and running it again this year. 15k took me 75 minutes last year and this year 71 minutes. I came in 8th last year and 6th this year. Mother Nature screamed at me at mile 7 and I had to walk a quarter of a mile to get my digestive system calmed down and then eased back into running thus adding 2-4 minutes to my time but I was just glad to finish by that point.

This distance is now a normal distance run for my but I ran the first 2 miles at 6 minute miles then up to mile 7 was running 7 to 8 minute miles on this fine July 4th morning for the Freedom run from Lyons Kansas to Sterling Kansas 2009.

So if all goes well I will run it again next year and hope for no calls of nature but just be glad as well that I am still running. Up next are the 10k and 8k races I ran last year as well! Hope to better my times on those as well and just over all continue to enjoy myself and keep running. Maybe even run a marathon this fall for fun and some other races as well.

Here is a picture of me later in the day at the parade around 2pm:

As Ms. Janice Joplin sang, "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose..." LOL! True for you on so many levels. ;D How great to surpass your time from last year, even with calls of nature slowing you down a bit. Good luck on your future runs too.

In reading your blog I got a big ol' cheesy grin on my face, which spread even wider when I saw the smiles on your girls' faces. ADORABLE! I can see that they are proud of you too, and having a great time!

Congrats on all of your success, Greg!!

    Way 2 Go,
Keep up all your wonderful efforts.
You're quite the inspiration for your self, your family, and your SP family.
I'm quite proud of you and your efforts.
You bettered your time and you even had to chill a bit and rest up your digestive system, as you said. MY digestive system just did a flip flop reading your blog, LOL.
