Wonderful weekend - ran 10 miles for the 1st time

Sat morning I decided that I would try to run 10 miles. I was feeling good and the farthest I had ever run before was 8.5 miles. I thought maybe I should not push it so far and only do 9 but I really wanted to do 10 so I did it. I ran 10 miles in 1 hour and 42 minutes. The last mile was an amazing high and I actually sprinted the last lap. It felt great.

After that I had just enough time to make it to the store to pick up some veggies and cheese for my niece's 3rd birthday party. She had a Fancy Nancy party and was really cute. Her parents redid their basement for her birthday. The half of the basement that is her play area has music on one side, art in the middle, and now a new ballet studio on the other side. She loved it. She has been really into ballet for about 6 months now. She loves the nutcracker and has been asking for real ballet slippers (which she got). I got her a ballerina outfit and she wore it the rest of the day. She is really good at standing on her tip toes - especially for a 3 year old. My brother is trying to decide if she is old enough yet to start ballet lessons. They do start at 3 years old so maybe she will start. In the meantime they have ballet books and instruction videos to start training at home since she really loves it and wants to do ballet.

Sun was a long drive to door county (about a 3.5 hour drive) for a family reunion. We had a great time at the reunion - left at about 7 am and got home about midnight. Most of the people there got there on Fri and left on Mon but we had Rhimi's party so we could not stay the whole weekend. It was nice to see everyone. Probably ate too much food and did not count anything that day but I allow myself a day off for special occasions. I don't care anymore if I gain a few pounds at a party because I know I will lose it again when I get back to my normal routine. I did not weigh myself today either because I know the day after is always a lot higher (probably due to increased water weight) so I will see how much I gained when I do my normal weekly weigh in. Hopefully by this weekend I will have lost everything I had gained.

Had a wonderful time and took today off work to sleep in and get things done around the house today. Busy day today.

    First, I am so inspired by your 10 mile run. That is amazing!

    And second, I agree that every once in a while we need to take a break from logging the food. I do the same. And I no longer allow that to de-motivate me. I, too, know that any weight gained will be lost.

    We are on a mission, and it ain't impossible!

    Good for you. I have been trying to run. I just can't seem to do it. I just can't breathe while running. I'm not tired, just out of breathe. So i applaud anyone who can run. especially 10 miles in a little over an hour. wow! just amazing! Great job.
