Running for a cause

Monday, August 03, 2009

I have always wanted to run a marathon but when I was in shape I was always to busy and when I got out of shape - I shied away thinking "Now I am way to out of shape to even think about running a marathon." Well no more excuses and the great thing is that I am in training to run my first 1/2 marathon and it is for a good cause. Not only am I pushing myself to get into shape but I am raising money for cancer research at the same time. That is right I joined up with Team in Training that is a great support system both for getting you in shape for the marathon and for helping you raise money for the Lymphoma and Leukemia society.

So today was my first day of my second week in training and I am happy to report that I have gone from in just a week a run/walk of 20 min/mile to 17.5 min/mile. And today was a struggle I wanted to turn around and go home within the first few minutes, but I pushed thru and did my best two miles yet.

If you are reading this and would like to do something for the cause but cant commit to the marathon - you can help by becoming a sponsor. By donating just a few dollars you will help us reach our goal to starting several new research programs.
