THE best run EVER!!

Thursday, August 13, 2009

OMG! I am so excited I want to shout to the world! I had the best run to date early this morning and it felt wonderful. I felt alive and in control of ME. The most important aspect is that this running thing is becoming a HABIT and I WANT to do this without dread. I have never ever in my life been considered an athlete, but I am starting to wonder if perhaps I am becoming one. I have been reading my Jeff Galloway book and learning great practical tips on smart beginner's running and it is paying off. If I want to stop running and walk, then by God I do it.

Last night I downloaded a few more Van Halen and upbeat Christian songs (what a combo, huh) and I was flying like the wind with a huge smile on my face. Of course, given the time there was no one to see my smile except for the paper guy. I hope this desire to run does not wane and I am going to chronicle my thoughts and feelings now just in case for future reference.

I am a runner!

That is great to read that exercise is becoming a habit. They say we trade one habit for another....good or bad. Exercise is a wonderful habit to have!

Laurie, I'm so happy for your physical epiphany! You, of all people, deserve it. Not just the physical well-being but the mental boost you are experiencing. I echo your hope that the running becomes an intregal part of your life, good habits are wonderful to obtain!

Keep up the great work, Laurie, you're getting there.

I don't see your desire to run decreasing....you have discovered the best part of running and that is stretching to be the best you can be....and when you do beat your previous records (whatever they are) it is such a high. That's the real runner's high I think. Like you, I'm fairly new to running but I have really gone head over heels for this sense of accomplishment I feel each time I go farther or faster or feel better doing the routine run. Keep up the good work!

Congratulations! I'm just starting out as a runner myself. I've never been athlete, either! It sounds like you're doing great! I still can't make myself exercise in the mornings, though. Haha!

I've heard so many runners on SP talk about it being addicted & so much fun when you get into it. It doesn't sound like it's a thing that just goes away. So, I'm sure you'll be sticking with it for a long time!

    Keep up the great work!
