Remembering My Grandmother

Thursday, September 03, 2009

My MawMaw passed over July of 2000.

My daughter was listening to "Imagine " by John Lennon.
That song reminded me of my Grandmother. The only living
Grandmother I knew. When she passed, I realized how much
she served as all four of my grandparents.

She used to fill my bottle with coffee milk! And any sweet
you wanted, she had it! I remember rocking in a square
chair she had. The majority of my body resting in the chair and
my foot hanging off to rock myself with my bottle of coffee milk.

She never missed any family members birth date, anniversary,
graduation, she had everything written in her address book! As my
birthday approaches, I can hear her voice saying my name. I miss
her so very much! But I know she is in a better place.

She was and is awesome! She pulled all her own teeth, now that is a woman!
She never went to a doctor, she took care of herself. The first time she went
to a doctor for a physcial examine to be placed in a nursing home, she gave
that doctor hell!

I MISS HER! I LOVE HER FOREVER! AND I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER
MY GRANDMOTHER AS A WOMAN WHO I AM GRATEFUL TO HAVE IN MY
LIFE! emoticon AND YELLOW WAS HER FAVORITE COLOR! emoticon

Isn't it wonderful to have such beautiful memories? One thing about grandmothers, they know how to treat their grandchildren...love and spoil them!!! Your grandmother sounds like she was that type of grandmother. I pray that my grandchildren have such memories.

Your lovely tribute inspires me to be the best Gran possible to my 4 beautiful grandchldren, whom I love to distraction. I'm quite near the girls, and we bake cakes and pick fruit and have looooong chats and read stories - and I hope I am making happy memories for them.

    Thank you for sharing

You brought a tear to my eyes and heart, as my grandmother passed in 2003 after a long bought with Alzheimer and diabetes. But I was lucky in that she taught me how to cook. I remember quite a few times being called names because i wanted to be home helping my mammaw fix Sunday dinner and not play ball. The one thing I really miss is that I was never able to make her biscuits...to this day mine never taste as good as hers....thank you for the wonderful memories..
