Healthy Diet Habits: Find Unexpected Opportunities

I have a brief homework break, so I will write the last blog on stage 2 of SP so I can finally move on to stage 3.

"'Batch cook' a dish this week that can last for 4-5 days." I managed to do that and get my 5 points, but honestly this doesn't happen often. I know it's a good idea, I just can't get myself to take the time on a Saturday or Sunday to do this.

"Exercise entirely in 10-15 minute blocks of time this week." WHAT??? I understand the concept, but this isn't happening any time soon. I spent so much time this summer figuring out how to make exercise a part of my routine, so I don't want to suddenly change everything because an action step told me to. For example, when I use the elliptical for me it's mainly about building up endurance on it and the calories are a side bonus. I'm up to thirty minutes on it so now I'm playing around with the ramp and resistance levels. I'm up to 4 (out of 10) on the ramp and 8 (out of 10) on the resistance. I don't want to take a week off from doing my thirty minute sets on it. Instead I want to continue to get better at it.

"Exercise in one place that you normally wouldn't." I didn't manage that in the week it was assigned, but I'm checking it off now. The place I normally wouldn't exercise is the gym by my office. Part of why I hadn't done this before is that I wanted to work up to a full half-hour on the elliptical in my apartment complex first. The gym at work/school is always full of people, and I figured if I was on the machine as long as most people were I'd blend in better. I've been there three times now. Hopefully I will be able to keep up with going there twice a week.

Right, on to stage 3.

    I'm still in stage 2, but hope to move on to stage 3 before too long. I'll try not to let my imminent move to Germany disrupt it all. I'm right there with you about the "exercising in 15-minute blocks." One thing I am actually very good at is the exercise, so I don't want to alter that part of my program. I guess the point of that is to show that when you DO get taken out of your routine, all is not lost, that you can exercise almost anywhere and in small increments.
