#96: Believing in Success

Saturday, October 03, 2009

"The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen." Frank Lloyd Wright

In our battle of the bulge, we often find ourselves thinking about eating, since that is what we're trying to control.

But how do we stop thinking about what until now has been a major focus of our lives?

Our minds will create a way if we let them. We must believe it CAN be done. We must use the word POSSIBLE, a success word and think of any roadblocks to our success and list all of the reasons why and how we can OVERCOME that barrier. We must focus our mental concentration on why we CAN, rather than on why we can't.

If we BELIEVE WE CAN, we will find solutions. We can become the person we want to be. We must BELIEVE IT CAN BE DONE! To accomplish anything worthwhile, we must first believe we can. Believing something releases our minds to find a way to achieve it.

Florence Nightingale once said of her success, "I attribute my success to this – I never gave or took any excuse."

Abraham Lincoln said, "Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other one thing."

Sir Winston Churchill told us, "It is no use saying, 'We are doing our best.' You have got to succeed in doing what is necessary."

Taking personal responsibility for your actions has been a resounding theme around here of late, Lou. Thank you for putting it so succicintly. On one front, our 17 year old son would sooner lie or blame someone else, falsely accusing them, than to take responsibility for his actions. On the other, a good friend, a lady in her mid-sixties, has fallen into the habit of blaming every single area of failing in her life on something her husband does or does not do. If God will only get His act together and change that husband, why, everything in her world would be just peachy!! How often we give those excuses that Florence Nightingale refused to give or take! Productivity comes only when the excuses DIE.

Very interesting. You are 100% right that first you must believe you can . (But), the word no one likes. LOL In my opinion the battle of the bulge is is much more than what you eat and thinking about food. It is about taking responsibility for your own happiness, and giving your body what it needs to function good , to burn that fat like exercise, fresh air and sunshine, sleep and rest and also healthy food . It is a mistake to put too much focus on food and neglect the other areas. All of it works together. As you said, first and before all else you must believe you can win the battle.

my greatgrandmother used to say....you're really 10 feet tall, it's only perception that makes you the height you look...for a 6 yr old to hear that talk about confusion, short of my fitness and weight I have lived by that in every endeavor I have done and it really helps to believe it...
