#135: Veteran's Day

To those :

Who learned that freedom is not free
Who lost their lives, arms, legs and eyesight for strangers
Who served alone and scared in faraway places
Who stand when their country's flag passes by, salute at the ready
Who learned to never wear a hat indoors
Whose shoes are always shined
Who holds a door open for a lady
Who says please and thank you and yes sir and no ma'am
Who cry when the national anthem is played

We thank you. Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Air Force. We are grateful.

To my relatives who served in the military: I'm proud of you.

To my dad, a career Naval officer who died, appropriately enough, on Veteran's Day, 1976, at the young age of 48: we miss you and love you.

Please, when you see a veteran, especially today, shake their hand and say thank you.
