Game ON: Healthy Living Challenge

I seem to do better with my pursuit of healthy living if I have a good challenge to motivate me. I recently participated in my husband's workplace wellness screening -- and I received the results in the mail at the end of September. There is a detailed, personalized report that offers suggestions for an action plan to improve the quality of my score, health and life.

I've chosen 7 healthy living goals that I'm striving to meet each day of the week. If I meet each goal, I will earn 7 points per day for a total of 49 points for the week. These are now my "fast break" goals. They are small, healthy changes that I hope to increase upon in the next few months. I'll move to the next “level” of good health by achieving 44 points for the week. (This is a 90% success rate.)

For every level that I reach, I will treat myself to a reward from my list of healthy rewards (ie: scented body lotion, new nail polish, manicure, new CD, etc.). When I've reached my 1st big goal (losing 10% of my body weight), I'll treat myself to a bigger reward (ie: a new, fabulous dress). Upon reaching the first big goal, I'll revise my list of daily healthy living goals to up the ante and set the second big goal and reward.

I plan to update my progress on Mondays, which is the start of a new week for me. My Healthy Living Challenge will begin on Monday, November 16th.
