The Choices are Ours to Make (& Other Random Thoughts)

Thursday, November 12, 2009

I loved that phrase from the Motivation article Vandal sent me yesterday. That's just been ricocheting around in my head all day.

I had another good day so I am on a roll. The good choices were mine to make and I made 'em!

During the half marathon last Saturday, TC and I decided to jog for a few minutes to give our "walking muscles" a break. We started at mile 6, and I was ASTOUNDED that I kept it up until nearly Mile 7! Meanwhile, poor TC was quite a ways behind and walking. (He is in better shape but has a bad knee.)

As a result of that I've decided to do the couch to 5K. Nancy15's really got me inspired as well. I started today with week 4 -- walk 5 minutes, jog 3 minutes, walk 90 seconds, jog 5 minutes and repeat. I could do the 5 minutes without much huffing or puffing. I'm excited about this new challenge!

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is only TWO WEEKS FROM TOMORROW?! Where has this year gone? Vandal and I first met up last May, I think about May 16-17, sometime around there, so we've been partnered in this weight loss effort for 6 months now. He's down nearly 60 pounds and I'm still hanging in at my 20+. That's WELL over 2 pounds a week for the ol' VD and a little less than 1 pound a week for me.

I'm so grateful that we stumbled on each other, and all of you, because truly -- this would NOT have been possible without the support, humor, encouragement and understanding that has been available here for the asking. What a gift.

I feel strong and motivated, and I am looking forward to joining Nancy15 on the other side of 160.

Have a good evening everyone!

What a great blog TG. Just what I needed. I was getting into my private little pity party but you just reminded me of where we have been and then Nancy15togoal's blog had the little reminder of keeping your eye on the prize!

Way to go on taking on another challenge - it will be fun watching you get there!

You take care and ENJOY your week-end.
