My Son The Soldier

This is my son Joseph and his new wife.

I miss him so much...He has been stationed in Germany for so long,
I am very proud of him.
Making the service his career......

When he was a little boy he would march around the house with a broom, cowboy boots, and a badge...was so cute.

i remember when he was in boot camp calling me and saying, "Mom you need to talk to my drill sargent, he is yelling at me." "Set him straight mom," lol

After boot camp he was sent over seas........He called me then too saying,"Mom come get me, it is no fun here."
I answered, "ok son, on my way." lol

We called him BubbaJoe, and that nick name has stayed with him\.

So , many sweet memories.

My son was in the Marines. He was overseas, but never at war. I know how you feel about missing him. When he hit New Zealand, the girls were lined up on the wharf waiting for them. One caught him and invited him to stay with her. After one day, she proposed and said she'd marry him and take care of him for the rest of his life. He said it was tempting, but knew it would hurt me too much. Plus, he kind of enjoyed being a Marine.

Thanks for sharing this with us Paula. I will be experiencing the same pain next summer as my son recently joined the Navy. He leaves July 2010 and while I am so very proud of him, I know there will be many tears because I won't see him for months at a time. We are all very proud of our children for wanting to serve and protect this great nation. Now we need to continue to uphold them all in our prayers.

God bless America and all our sons & daughters who so valiantly serve!!

THANKS FOR SHARING THIS STORY. I KNOW VERY WELL WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH. MY SON IS IN THE ARMY AND STATIONED IN IRAQ. I HAVE NOT SEEN SINCE HE HAS BEEN BACK. BUT IN DEC. HE IS COMING HOME FOR HIS REDEPLOYMENT LEAVE. I MISS HIM SO MUCH AND CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM BUT WHEN HE DOES GO BACK TO BASE MY WORRING WILL START ALL OVER AGAIN. Saw your post and had to say HI! My son is also a soldier. Joined Feb 2009 and was sent to So Korea June 2009. He will be home hopefully this summer.

Bless the Lord for your son...someone who is brave yes even after reading you store...I married a Marine not knowing their would be a war and I'd get a call a few months after being married from him saying Honey, you need to get my stuff I have in the closet and bring it to me..make sure my bearanet(spell check didn't help) I asked what is that..He said it the knife you saw me sharpening once in while after split shinning my boots..ok why do you did it...It goes on the end of my rifle...oh no you don't want that...He said get it here now or I'll be in deep trouble like the burick/jail for the president just called (the high rank person) and told him to get the Marines off to war...I said Oh no...He said call my mother and have her bring you so you can take our car home...he was gone for our first anniversary, and so many other occasions but he came home alive so nothing matter what was lost for He was my soldier and the are all Great American.....
