Need insight/ input

So this morning after working out I kept using my heart-rate monitor... according to the monitor, I burned off over 450 calories.... but my work out was 2miles at 27min. burning around 380 or so (i pretty sure, i'm going of memory... )... so what do you go by. The cool down while your stretching.. or just the workout only.... And also with using the my-fitness tab on here... it's saying calories loss was 244. How is it so much difference. So I need some help from you vets. Give me some insight please! And thank you!

    Good Morning! When I used a heart rate monitor, my calorie burn was always way over the top compared to other people. Check your resting heart rate and your heart rate when you're doing minor activities. Even when I was in shape, my heart rate would jump into the 160s at least within my first 15min of cardiovascular exercise, if not in the first 5 min. This throws the monitors off because it thinks you're already working that hard - in my case, it was just my heart doing it's normal crazy fast thing it does. I can hit 150 just at work (now granted I work in an ER and am hustling, but still). Anyways, that is what solved my question of why my calculators online said one thing and my monitor said another. I tend to lean on the side of the calculators (like the spark fitness ones) because it's not taking into account my fast pulse. Just a thought :) emoticon

    Don't worry about the calories it says you did or didn't burn. The real thing to focus on is length of time worked out and how that workout made you feel. Did you give it your all? Do you feel like you can take on the world? That's what really matters. Just keep moving and eating right and you will be doing what's best for your body! You're doing awesome!

    Just my opinion but I just do not worry about the numbers (I used to ) but I ran into what you are experiencing and i was getting very upset so I decided movement is movement but thats me and it works .

    Try going on the message board too with your question and Good job by the way !!!!
