Yesterday I met all my goals:
W- water - yes, drank 9 glasses.
A - alcohol, none.
T - Table (ate dinner at the), yes.
E - Exercise - 3 miles on the road.
R- Record all food - yes, even the two unplanned cookies.
R - Read the Beck book & cards - I listened to my new downloaded book for 30 minutes on the way to work and 30 minutes back home.
The Cookie Incident: I had a very sweet lady in my class bring me about 3 dozen assorted cookies from a specialty cookie store! OMG, they were in a box with a string tied around it! I opened it up and gave one to everyone in the class, and then offered cookies to my coworkers, and then put the box on my desk...I ate one of the smallest variety....I took them home with the intention of giving the rest away to a couple of elderly neighbors...TC had three and declared them HIS. I had another one, which I admit I ate STANDING UP!!!! I had TC bag the rest of cookies and put them in the freezer in the garage (OUT OF SIGHT!)
TC had a meeting last night and i was HOME ALONE. I thought about those cookies...but for the FIRST TIME I had those HELPFUL THOUGHTS that the Beck book talks about. Honestly, it was the FIRST TIME I was able to say to myself, "SELF, YOU DON'T NEED MORE OF THOSE COOKIES. YOU ALREADY HAD TWO. THEY WERE DELICIOUS BUT IF YOU EAT ANY MORE YOU ARE JUST GOING TO FEEL BAD. YOU'RE JUST HAVING A CRAVING. IF YOU GO TO THE FREEZER YOU ARE GOING TO EAT SIX OF THEM, AND YOU KNOW IT. SO JUST MOVE ON."
And I did! I ate two sugar-free popsicles for 30 calories.
This morning I weigh 159.5!! I am ecstatic! That's down 1.5 pounds from yesterday!!!!
As you can see, I'm giving myself major credit for dealing with an unforeseen event that COULD have ended in a major feeding frenzy!
OK, here's my Thanksgiving Strategy:
TC and I don't have any relatives in this state. For Thanksgiving we spend a couple of days camping at a state park with a lodge with a Thanksgiving buffet. It's really nice; because of the crowds they pair couples together so we end up sharing our meal with another couple or two. I NEVER handle buffets well, so this year we are going to cook Thanksgiving dinner OVER A CAMPFIRE!
We've got turkey mignons (tenderloin wrapped in bacon, 170 calories each) and we'll bake sweet potatoes in the coals. I've made cranberry sauce with Splenda and will make my low-cal version of green bean casserole. The only high-calorie item will be the stuffing, but I'll work on portion control. We will not have any alcohol. I may have more calories than normal but I will NOT be eating a zillion calories as I usually do.
We love to hike and this particular state park has lots of trails, so my goal (weather permitting) is to walk a trail once in the morning and once in the afternoon.
I'm hoping I can come home on Friday still holding on to the 150's!!!
It is very exciting for me to be seeing success, because I have been virtually stalled between 160-165 since AUGUST. To see some downward movement (due to my stepped-up efforts, of course) is really a thrill and I am very happy to be sharing it with my friends and supporters on Sparkpeople.
We will be leaving today and will not be back until Friday, so until then, I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I feel truly blessed and have much to be thankful for. Say a special prayer for the men and women serving in our armed forces.
