I'm Back --And With a New Motivator: Type II Diabetes! Yay.

Tuesday, December 01, 2009

Is it weird that I said "yay"? Okay, it was meant to be a bit sarcastic (see, sarcasm doesn't always have to be mean --it can be directed at diseases and conditions, then it's okay!) however, in some ways it's a good thing. I am forced to go on a healthier eating plan and exercise plan. I want to keep my eyesight, toes, and kidneys, so um, yeah, I'm gonna be a good girl and do what I need to do.

For all you NaNoWriMos out there: For the first time in 8 or 9 years since I started doing NaNoWriMo, I finally did it! I made it to 50,000 words! YAY!!!

Um, okay, that's it for today... emoticon

Thanks. Even though I followed the eating plan very closely, I still ended up on meds. I hadn't started exercising though, due to NaNoWriMo. I am hoping once I get my weight down and stick to the healthy eating and exercise, I can go off my meds. I've only been on them since Monday and it's the kind I take at dinner time so my morning levels are lower and it's supposed to keep the ones during the day lower too. So far, it's been doing fine with the keeping it down during the day, but my morning readings are still high.

I have type II diabetes also. So far it is diet controlled, though I could do better. Did best when it showed up as gestational diabetes and my babies health was on the line. I lost weight during my pregnancy. Just keep the carbs down but not out. And a little protein every time you eat. It helps a lot. emoticon

Good luck with your new lifestyle change due to diabetes. Several of my family members have it and one takes meds and the other follows a strict diet and exercise plan and doesn't take meds.
You will find out what works for you as you go along!

Congrats on finishing the Nanowrimo! I know that you must be so proud! I started and my blood pressure went way up and I had to stop. It must feel so go to have plowed through and got it down. Good luck on your December re-write. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
