Working it!

Wednesday, December 02, 2009

I took the day off from work yesterday because I had two doctor appointments. It had been 2 1/2 years since I've had a physical.

My doctor is a triathlete, and while she is a very kind and empathic person, I was just too embarrassed to go back while I was knowingly and willingly abusing my health.

The funny part is that while I've lost 25 pounds, according to her records I'm only down 8. So in that 2 1/2 years I continued to gain another 17 pounds before I finally said "enough is enough."

Well, all water under the bridge. I'm on the right track now and she was pleased with the changes I've made.

I did a pretty good job yesterday with WarrVests -- Drank the water, no alchohol, Read my cards & listened to a weight-loss podcast; recorded all my food. Took my vitamins, did 3 miles on the treadmill, ate only planned snacks, ate at the table, and tried to SLOW DOWN while I ate. Can use more work on that one.

I weigh 159 this morning. My goal is to keep doing what I'm doing, try to pick up the exercise a bit this week, and see what happens.

KEEP WORKING YOUR PLAN EVERYONE! I read on someone's blog that "Christmas is only one day, so there is no real reason to eat with abandon for 31 days!" How true is that!

Later,
TG

Glad you finally went to the doctor but I know exactly what you mean. My last doctor was a female who did these 100 mile bike things through the mountains and I had gone from 229 to 270 between visits! She and I had a little talk and I did most of the listening but I still didn't change habits!

You really do have it going on so keep it up. I see you popping up all over with good things to say for others so you better be careful or you'll get to be one of the motivational bloggers and then think of the pressure you'll be under!!

I still can't come with something as good as your WarrVests but I will eventually!

You take care and I'll talk to you tomorrow!!

Oh boy! I can see why going to an athlete doctor would be scary.
The medical model that I go after is that we partner with our doctor to be as healthy as we can be. Sounds like you have a good healthy doctor to assist you in your journey.
