Recovery Update

It has been a while since I've been on Spark, not for lack of desire or trying, but I just don't have as much free time at my new job as I did at my old job. That's when I was on Spark the most. I got a new computer about 2 months ago, and for some reason, it doesn't like the pop-ups that you get for tracking fitness. They make it crash. So I haven't been logging my stuff.

But, although I am not running yet, I am still exercising, from 90minutes - 2hours a day. My physical therapy has turned more into a workout than it was at first. And, when I go home, I repeat a lot of the stuff on the other side, so I don't lose strength over there.

I am allowed to swim without kicking, and I got on the bike for the first time at PT on Tuesday. I still need to get my Trek bike mounted inside so I can bike at home. I still don't have pain, but need to use the crutches. Although, when I'm at my house or inside my classroom, I don't use them because I'm never walking more than 20 feet at a time. I use them for everything else though (don't tell my PT, lol).

Otherwise, everything has been good. My appetite has finally lost it's runner-ness. I mean, I'm no longer hungry like I'm training for a marathon. I'm sure that will come back soon enough.

The bad news that I've heard, is that I might be out for 3-4 more MONTHS. Although I did not hear this from a doc; I just posted on a RW forum and that's the reply I got (5-6 months). I go back to see Doc on Dec. 21 and I'm going to ask. I'm feeling so good that 3-4 seems excessive. But we'll see. That may make my 4th consecutive Flying Pig marathon a non-issue. But if I'm allowed to run reduced miles, I will just get ready for summer training for the Columbus marathon (which I deferred last year, so I already have an entry.)

    Hi Molly! Long time no see! I hope you had a lovely Christmas and I'm pleased to hear you are on the road to recovery. I also had a couple of injuries this year but I stopped running before I made them any worse and recovered quickly thank goodness. I also did a half marathon and beat my PB by 2 minutes which I was really pleased about. It sounds as if you are doing tons of exercising. I do about an hour a day. It's good to keep moving. As for running a marathon I would love to one day. There's the London marathon but it's so popular it's hard to get a place on that one unless you run for charity and then you have to earn at least £2000 for them, if you cannot collect that amount you then have to pay it yourself from your own pocket, which is not ideal either. Anyway sweetie, have a HAPPY NEW YEAR! may all your dreams come true. Hugs and love Helen x

    You are soooo patient and good for you for just doing what you can! 90 min- 2 hrs.. that's a TON of exercise Molly! You'll be in tip top shape when you start running again!
