#170: Preparing for a Stress Test is Stressful

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

My road to weigh loss has been rocky. In the first 15 days on SparkPeople I lost 10 pounds, then gained it back, lost some more, gained more back, like a bouncing ball.

Last week I was referred to an endocrinologist because blood sugars and triglycerides are out of control and the weight keeps climbing, no matter what I do.

Because of back and feet injuries, I'm very limited in the amount of aerobics I can do and there is not a pool available for water exercises so I'm sure that has contributed to the weight fluctuations.

As a result, I am scheduled for a stress test tomorrow to, I hope, rule out any potential heart problems. No caffeine or chocolate or colas of any kind for 24 hours before.

That's enough to stress out anyone. emoticon

But I am keeping a positive attitude and hope to get back to writing messages that try to inspire and encourage.

Until then, if I worry all night might I ace the test tomorrow? emoticon

Praying all is well for you, and that the Dr.s are able to find the answers needed to help you.

No coffee for 24 hours? *tremble* HORRORS!! lol I pray you will have the grace to make it through just fine. In addition to these tests, have they checked your insulin levels? I gained 100 pounds the year before I was diagnosed with insulin resistance (and I was already very fat). If that is the problem, until you get specific nutrition advice for that issue, it will be very difficult to not gain weight. Are your back limitations such that you could do chair aerobics? They provide a good cardio workout with far less stress to the joints and bones than floor aerobics. I pray for your doctors to have wisdom in leading you through this difficult time.

Don't worry Lou. There is nothing to those stress tests. I know this from experience.

Try not to Worry Lou. Worry is stress and you want to be as stress free and get a good night sleep before the stress test.
Don't cross any bridges before you get to them. They could find something wrong, but if they do it could be a start in the right direction of correcting what needs correcting . Then you might do great and having the good report will help you to push yourself harder without fear. So be thankful for the test and wait for the results before you concern yourself with the outcome. Love, Joy

Take a deep breath and read a good book. That usually helps to clear the mind.

The best way to "study" for this test is to eat right and rest tonight! God Bless You.
