Covered with Powdered Snow and Powdered Sugar :)

Monday, December 21, 2009

So this past weekend, we got snow. Not nearly as much as others, but enough to make it a pretty, white Christmas.

Sunday, I was presented w/ a few gifts from the members of our church's vocal and bell choirs (I've directed them for 12 years). They were simple tokens of appreciation and I am thankful for each and every one of the members. They show up week after week and put up with my crazy schedule and - at times - lack of organization! Anyway...they gave me a gift cert for a massage, a lovely framed print of a lighthouse, and a cookie cutter shaped like a handbell!

So...to show THEM how much I appreciate them, I decided to make cookies using the cookie cutter - my first solo attempt at making cut-out cookies!!! Whoooo....it's a lot of work and a lot of mess. But hey....I did it! Hubby says they tasted good! I did sample a smidge of the frosting - just for quality control purposes!! But other than that, I had not a bite! I decided to make them red, but as you can see, they were a beautiful pink color. Eh...red, pink...it all tastes the same.

I'm quite proud of them...I baked!! I sure am enjoying my break!!

Loved the pictures!! And I'm so glad that the kids got to play in the snow and that your church group appreciates you. And you made cookies!!!!I love to make cut out sugar cookies and they are a lot of work. I make a glaze to dip them in and then use sprinkles to make it easier.

GREAT job! PINK is in ya know. LOL I've attempted sugar cookies many times (and I'm the baker) but I always buy the pilsbury sugar cookie rolls and just roll the dough, cut out the shapes, bake and decorate. LOVE IT! just a hint for next time. :)

You should be proud of them! Baking is not easy! Cooking I can do, baking that is a whole other art form!

I have to say Holly you just get cooler and cooler, you have directed a hand bell choir for 12 years!? That is so amazing and impressive! I definitely think that you epitomize the statement "If you want something done, ask a busy person!" You're awesome!

    Yay for white Christmases :)
