I hit my goal of 118# on Nov 1, 2007. After that, I pressed on to 115# - for "wiggle room". I maintained for a year, then I allowed myself to get off track over the holidays of '08.

I've yo-yo'd most of 2009 - going as high as 15 pounds over goal.

15 pounds. Eh. You can't really SEE it on me (and if you can, then you need to not look so close)! I feel great about what I've accomplished. Yeah....I'm not at goal, but I adopted a low carb lifestyle that I've succeeded with for 4 years now. I began to run in 2009 and have completed three 5K's. I feel better nearing 40 than I ever did in my 20's. So what is my goal for 2010? It's simple...

Do Better

That's it. The date in my blog title is the only day in 2009 that I weighed under 120 - my tight jeans and I would appreciate a few more of those under 120 days this year.

I want to exercise more. I've made a plan, but don't plan to beat myself up when life squeezes all the gumption out of me. I WILL register for some races - just to make sure I DO continue to run. I have my eye on 3 so far and plan to "up the ante" with a 10K.

So...looking back over the past year, I've done well. I consider myself a maintainer. To reattain goal weight ISN'T my goal, but just doing better and continuing to maintain a healthy lifestyle IS.

I can and will do better!

Happy, Safe New Year everyone!

Very cute blog! You've done well in 2009 and I know this year will be just as awesome or even better for you. I'll be running some races along with you this year (now that I am not preggo!) :)

Love this blog! I know I need to just out the scale away. I agree - the number on the scale isn't my goal, it's about feeling better about myself AND in my clothes! I love visiting your page b/c we are almost the exact same height and weight. I take comfort in your journey b/c it's so similar to my own. Thanks for all of the honesty you put in to your postings!

I love it that your goal isn't about getting to as low a weight as you possibly can and that you recognize that nobody but you can really even see a difference. On Christmas I was FAR from my weight goal, numbers wise, but when I saw pictures of myself from that day I realized that I actually looked fine - in clothes anyway - which is how everybody sees me! Have a healthy New Year!! :)

Do you ever think that your original goal wasn't maintainable for your lifestyle at the time? I had the goal of hitting 125 and stalled at 128... then bounced back to 130, which was where my body wanted to stay. But I didn't try very hard to get it lower (I had to cut carbs out to get my body to drop lower and that for me can't be maintained long term!) ... maybe that was my sign that it just wasn't worth the effort for me to lose 5 more pounds!

I think you look fantastic the way you are, Holly!!! And the fact that you are teaching your children some amazing life lessons about being active and eating healthy should have nothing to do with the weight on the scale!

But I do agree, we can always improve! I know you will soar in 2010!

It sounds like a solid plan, Holly! I think keeping up with races is good for you, specifically because otherwise your very rich and full life probably takes over! This way you're forced to take some "Holly time." Also, I love that as a grown up it gives me that sense of "YEAH! I did it!" Like kids get with recitals and plays, we adults don't always have something analogous.

Anyway, I love your attitude, I think you're an inspiration, and I am so glad to have met you on here!

    Happy New Year!
