Back from vacay, ringing in 2010

It's the last day of Madi's Christmas vacation. She goes back to school tomorrow. The last two weeks have just flown by. We spent the first week getting ready for and celebrating Christmas, and hosting DH's family for Christmas Eve. Then we spent last Monday through yesterday morning up North with friends at their cabin. It was a fun and relaxing way to ring in the New Year!
Needless to say I didn't journal my food or workout last week while on vacation. And for the better part of Christmas week I was sick so I only got in one workout that week. Got on the scale this morning to see how much damage I've done w/ all the holiday goodies, endless snacking and hot toddies. Weighed in at 158 -- 2 lbs more than the last time I weighed myself a couple weeks ago, although I didn't move my weight ticker then partly out of denial and partly bc I was sure I could get the scale back down to 154 in another week. So really I've gained 4 lbs over the holidays. I guess it could be worse. I can't say that I'm surprised since I've been totally off my routine for a whole week and a half. At least I didn't gain all 10 lbs that I had lost back; I've still lost 6 lbs.
Tomorrow it's time to get back to my routine. Back to eating healthier, back to food journaling, back to hitting the gym, back to fitness journaling and drinking at least 8 glasses of water per day. Although if anything, I have been trying to drink as much water as I could during winter break. If I didn't drink 8 glasses a day I probably came close to it. It's 2010 -- a new year, a new decade. It's time to refocus on my goals of living a healthier life and losing weight. Last September, when I joined SP, I set a goal of losing 29 lbs by early April. So far my progress in losing weight has been slow going. Working out and sticking to a workout routine is fun for me. I find it to be a great stress reliever. It's the healthy eating and staying w/in my calorie range consistently that I find challenging. I know I will have to work harder on those things to try to lose more weight. Whether I can lose 23 more lbs by April will definitely be a challenge but I'll try my best. And I resolve to be happy w/ the results as long as I put my best efforts into it.
Oh btw, I got my Timex heart rate monitor in the mail from SP last week while we were gone. I won it in a SP weekly drawing! And I never win anything! Woo hoo! It'll take me a little while to figure out how to decipher the heart rate zone training stuff but I'm excited about using it. I've already set the time and date on the watch part of it. Maybe this is just the tool I need to help me on my weight loss journey.
