What a fun word huh? Scrumpdillyicious. Yes, that is what the new Spark recipe that I made last night was. If you like soup, try the Spinach and Tortellini Soup. Made by Sparkpeople user MEGULS. It was a simple recipe that required no chopping and big fuss. Anyone could make it!
I went to weight watchers. My week of journaling and menu planning worked. I lost 4.2 lbs. Something that I have not done in forever. I feel strong and motivated and on a ROLL!
Woo Hoo For me. I think it worked so well that I will do the same thing this week! To do this means that I have to make good choices.
Last night I cooked a crock pot dinner. It was a coke roast that my family loves. I did not want to eat it because it is a high calorie dinner. So I planned in advance to make the Spinach tortellini soup for me to eat. All week long the family ate Spark meals, and low cal delights, so last night was Pot Roast and Grand Rolls. We had my father in law and his best friend, My daughters, one boyfriend and Dana and I. A nice table of 8. Dana was he Host with the most. Everyone wanted my soup. It was so good. And everyone enjoyed each others company. Many good stories were shared. It was a really nice meal and evening.
I left the table and felt full, and not deprived one bit. And we all know that the key to a successful life change is not to feel deprived.
I am off to look up new recipes, hit the gym and the store. Maybe not in that order, but it will all get done today. I may opt to work out while watching the Patriots play. We will see.
Do you ever cook something different for yourself than you do for your family? Do you have any good recipes to share, let me know, I am putting my grocery list together!
Here is to a strong week for us all!
:) Jeanne

    Congratulations!!!! That's amazing!

A recipe I made recently that my husband and i LOVE (can't get the kids to brave it) is turkey chili stew. It's on sparkrecipes under user name ARIZUMA. It is so fantastic. I just do the stovetop method, haven't tried the crockpot yet. But I also add edamame, about triple the chili powder, sometimes tabasco sauce, and black beans. I have to recalculate because of my inclusions, but it comes to about 353 calories for a 2 cup serving, which is huge.

I love it though because it's total comfort food and it isn't ridiculously high in calories. But you should definitely substitute uncooked beans for canned, because the sodium is through the roof otherwise.

    Have a great Thursday!

    Congrats on Your Loss!! Wow!!
I rejoined back WW in Oct, have maybe gone to 4-5 meetings, fork out $40 a month & have not been using it at all. Sad! I really use Sparks more than e-tools because I have everything in Sparks already.

    Continued Success to You!!

First, CONGRATULATIONS on losing 4.2 pounds! THAT IS FANTASTIC! I am so proud of you Jeanne. And so happy to see that your hard work is paying off. WOOHOO!

The soup sound great - I'll have to check out the recipe!

So sorry about your Patriots. We will have to find some other sport until next football season I guess.

My family never likes my veggies because they "are too hard" and "don't have any butter". I just tell them to add their own. I also watch my sodium and I haven't put salt in my food since high school (about 8 years now) so I always get the complaint that it needs salt. I tell them, if they don't like it, they don't have to eat it. That usually ends the argument! For big occasions though, I try to find a balance. Can't make everyone happy though!

Way to go on trying new recipes. That is one of my goals for this year - to try more recipes. Actually to cook more in general! Thanks for the inspiration!

I'm glad that last week was such a success for you and it sounds like it was such a fun night. Good for you for everything! I love tofu, and I cook with it a lot. I cook tofu in 1 tspn of olive oil with garlic, black pepper (sometimes hot peppers) and I throw in broccoli, brussel sprouts, whatever I got. Then I add in 3 or 4 tablespoons of Premier Japan Wheat-Free Teriyaki Sauce (only has like 15 calories per tablespoon) and I throw that over brown basmatic rice. It's really good!

You're right, though. You have to come up with meals and snacks that satisfy. I've managed to do that, so so far so good.

Keep it up, Jeanne, you're awesome!

Good for you! I don't know how all you manage to lose so much weight in one week. The most I've ever lose is 2 pounds. Oh well, I keep plugging along.
