"Man is not made for defeat." Ernest Hemingway

What is it about cats that makes them believe they control the world?
It seems clear that, despite the dozens of cats that paraded around Hemingway's property in Key West, FL, the great author never truly met one. For, if he had, he most certainly would have changed his quote.
Yesterday I ironed some shirts. Because there were more to do, I left up the ironing board. I use a steam iron so a glass measuring cup partially filled with water was on the table next to the ironing board.
I sat down to check emails on the laptop on the table and saw Little Thang, one of the three stray cats I've taken in, jump onto the table, walk to the measuring cup and proceed to drink.
After she finished, she wandered toward the computer to have her head scratched. So, scratching with one hand and typing with the other, I made my way through emails.
Thirsty again, Little Thang made her way back to the now empty cup, looked inside, meowed and looked at me. "Sorry, babe, you'll have to wait until I'm done. You've got your other water bowl on the floor," I told her.
'MEOW!" she bellowed, looking again at the empty cup before staring at me.
"Oh, all right, for crying out loud. Anything to let me get my work done," I said, as if she understood.
I refilled the cup, put it back on the table and began reading blogs and posts.
Tiny slurp sounds emanated from the area of the cup then wet whiskers tried to get my attention for more head scratches.
So, once more I was rubbed her head with one hand and tried to type with the other. Darn cat sure knows I have a weak spot for her and the others.
But I showed her who's boss, didn't I?
