#211: A Grand Design?

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

I've been watching my two dogs and three cats today and marveling that they, like people, even though they have their own personalities, are identical for the most part inside.

If we could see inside us we'd see the organs are in the same place and serve the same function. The same with animals. Sure, there is an occasional difference, such as with Siamese twins, but otherwise, people are mirror images of each other inside.

It is this similarity that has me marveling over the grand design that has made all of the human, animal, insect, plant, fish and reptile populations the same. One shark will have the same organs as another. A rose will have the same parts as another rose, bumblebees will be alike, ants will be alike, every living, growing thing will have similar functions.

This can't have happened by mistake or coincidence, can it?

The sun rises in the east and sets in the west, predictable and unchanging. Rains and snow flow downward, not upward one day and downward the next. Our lives are a continuing pattern of similar direction and purpose.

Isn't this nearly beyond comprehension?

This is what I have thought about today as I watched my pets. A dog is a dog, a cat is a cat, a person is a person. Yes, personalities will be different but otherwise every class of living thing is alike.

Isn't that fascinating?

I often marvel at the fact that people are so much alike and yet so very different. Keeps it interesting.

As for the pets, I have learned much self-acceptance by watching my critters.

We are all so much the same, and yet, so different. We all strive for the same basic needs, love, companionship, food, shelter, etc. And, I agree with the others, that it is indeed a sad thing that there are those who do not want to give God the glory for what He has done.

If you stop and think about it, it is amazing! I agree with YATMAMA and have respect for different beliefs, or lack thereof, but there has to be a higher power to explain the magnificent wonders of this earth. God is everywhere and in every thing. Each day I look forward to reading your blogs -they are always thought-provoking and inspirational. Keep them coming...

I respect and honor the faith of others, or the fact that they have no belief system. I am always perplexed, however, when someone tells me they do not believe in God. They see the same things you saw and described but cannot see the Maker's hand in it. That totally puzzles me. Another insightful blog, my friend.

Yes, Lou it is amazing. I often marvel at that very thing. God is so awesome and is all-knowing and all-seeing and is EVERYWHERE. Blows your mind if you think about it for too long! I love your blogs!
