Struggling has its benefits

Tuesday, February 02, 2010

Weird, but true.

If I didn't struggle, it means I would have given up entirely.

If I would have given up entirely, I would be right back where I started, and I'M NOT. I'm nearly 25 pounds lighter than when I started.

Every time I start over, I get stronger. I never feel hopeless, because I HAVE THE TOOLS to lose weight. I know what to do.

And I'm not really "starting over", I'm just picking up where I left off.

I've got my meals planned, ready to get on the dreadmill. It's going to be a good day!

Without sounding redundant, some very wise person coined "TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF MY LIFE" That really is profound in it's simple wisdom. emoticon emoticon

Thank goodness there are so many chances to renew and pick up again!

I've started Spark People three times now. I tell myself that this time will be different because I'm reaching out to the community here.

It's lovely that you share your beautiful photos with this community. And, I also appreciate your encouragement in your comment on my blog.

I think we sometimes cannot see that we ARE doing this. Yeah, the path curves to left or the right, but we are still moving down the path.

If we only move an inch a day - in a year we have gone over 30 feet!

Keep on keeping on & WARSUIT!

My perspective is that it takes practice. Athletes just don't show up and win... the put in the time and effort to build their skills.

Just showing up and doing something is half the battle. Your perseverance is inspiring.

Funny how my comment on Vandal's blog applies to my self talk and to your blog today; I should cut and paste. It seems we have the determination, none of us have QUIT. We just keeping circling around the problem and attacking it from a different side in a different way. THAT is GOOD. We WILL accomplish what we have set out to do. I am amazed at the perseverance and tenacity we little people continue to exhibit. Keep on with your Mantra TG, I can I know I can.

We all make the same struggles day to day and you are right - we just pick up where we left off.

You are so right . . . you're just picking up where you left off. I'm certainly in the same boat.

"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."

attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson, US essayist & poet (1803 - 1882)
