THERE'S ONLY SO MUCH YOU CAN CONTROL!

Here I am, sitting in my house, watching the snow fall STEADILY outside. I've checked LaGuardia Airport so many times on weather.com that my fingers are starting to hurt. I've planned a trip for 37 to Costa Rica for 1 1/2 years now. Everything is in place, the kids are psyched, the chaperones all packed and ready to head to the bus...but we have to accept the fact that there's a really good chance that our flight will be postponed or canceled, and that, of course will affect our next flight, and the timing of our arrival in Costa Rica.
I keep telling myself that I can't control everything...and unfortunately, weather is one of the topics over which I HAVE NO CONTROL. So, I must do what my husband, friends, and colleagues have been telling me -- relax, know that I've done all I can, and I will be in Costa Rica sometime very soon. Perhaps this could be a good lesson for the kids too...attitude...learning that everything doesn't always go perfectly, and we need to learn to be flexible. (I will probably need to remember that as I stand in long lines at the airport, especially if I'm trying to find new flights for all of us.)
Those thoughts can very easily be adapted to my life and weight loss. There is much in weight loss that I CAN control...it's not like the weather! I can control my portion size, the types of food I eat, the amount of time I exercise or walk...and when things go badly, ATTITUDE is very important. I need to pick myself up, decide what needs to be done, and do it.
So, wish me luck, everyone...with my trip to Costa Rica and on my journey through weight loss.
