Sometimes life just comes blasting at you like a firehose. And you never see it coming!

Had snow days Monday & Tuesday. Wednesday, problems with our newest instructor that is my responsibility to resolve today. My father-in-law needs a heart valve replacement but may not be strong enough for the operation. Lots of phone calls back and forth.

Our elderly neighbor (who lives about a mile away) fell and broke a couple of ribs on Tuesday. We DO visit him and help him out; I make his phone calls because he's hard of hearing. When some telemarketer got him to sign up for $120/month of cable channels I'm the one to call and get them removed. TC took him to the senior center and navigated him through choosing a Medicare Part B provider. We also got him signed up for food stamps since he lives on social security payments of $950/month.

I take him hot meals occasionally and can you believe the guy had never had LASAGNA? (He didn't like it much, either!) He's an old farmer, a meat and potatoes man.

Well anyway, lots happening today but hopefully I'll be able to catch up with everyone later tonight or tomorrow.

Take care!

If we kept food as simple as meat and potatoes we wouldn't be in the shape that we are so cheers to the nice neighbor man and living simply. It definitely has merit. You can easily figure calories in meat and potatoes. How many calories in lasagna? Let me guess?? And we always pick the lowest option.

I can only hope that someone kind will be willing to help me when the time comes to select my medicare options. If what goes around comes around you and TC will be in good shape. emoticon

    Hi TG,

This must be my day for lost comments - Lost one with Makambo, lost one with Nancy, and now I lost one with you - oh poor me!

You (and TC) are an incredible people. I wish there were more like you in the world. When you have time check out Nanyc15togoals blog from I think on Wednesday or Thursday and you'll appreciate what you do even more. It's the blog about an elderly lady dying and no one knew for months.

Taking care of your neighbor like you do is special.

Sorry about the school thing but you always seem to be the person they go to to fix things - that also says a lot about you.

You and your family are still in my prayers. That's a tough situation you are dealing with along with everything else but I know you're up to the challenge!!

Don't forget to take care of yourself in all of this.
