#230: Do You Go With The Flow Of Life?
Sunday, February 14, 2010
Have you ever tried to run into a heavy wind or row or paddle a boat against the water's current?
Pretty difficult tasks, aren't they?
Isn't life like that? We can spend too much unnecessary energy going against the flow of things and what do get in return? Headaches, upset stomachs, worries, apprehension.
But turn around and go in the opposite direction, with the current, and life becomes more serene and peaceful. It has been called "present moment happiness" where we do not concern ourselves about events from our past nor events from the future that may never come to pass. Instead, we focus on the here and now and look for the silver lining in whatever situation we're faced with.
To me, it takes far less energy and is far less taxing mentally and emotionally to focus on anything but the present moment. Sure, we need to be aware of future obligations but we need not dwell on them negatively.
Remember the song with the lyrics "Don't worry. Be happy?" If an episode is in our past, let it reside there, over and done with. If in our future, since we know not what the future holds, why worry needlessly over what might not happen?
Don't worry. Be happy, in the present moment. Learn to go with the flow of life. You will be more relaxed and peaceful. Focus on the wider scope of the universe and your mind, your heart and your soul will be filled with a peace that surpasses all understanding.
