Major goal met
Wednesday, February 17, 2010
As of February 15th it has been 1 full year since I have had even a sip of any kind of soda.
At first, I will be honest it was a very difficult task, because old habits are so hard to break. I dont know how many times that while "driving thru" somewhere, I would be on autopilot and order a combo w/a drink, and then when I get to the window, I REALIZE THE HUGE TEMPTATION I JUST PUT ON MYSELF.
Honestly, after about 2 months it actually got easier, I made NEW habits I started bringing my own cup when we would go out somewhere so I could have a large cup of water instead of the tiny "courtesy" cup they give you for free (that I would need to refill 10 times during a meal). Having a plan before we got to the restaurant, was huge, it helped so much when I had already made up my mind on what I would order. It would save me from ordering that one extra item just because "I might be hungrier than I thought."
After I had been off of soda for about 4 months someone said something that caused me to stop drinking other liquids as well, like milk, punch, juice, starbucks, shakes, ect.
What she said was "I do my best to not drink my calories, because my calories are limited." She went on to explain that, "Since I live on limited calories WHY would I steal from the nutrients I need in food to drink EMPTY CALORIES that have very little if any nutritional value that would help me toward my ultimate goal."
I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE I BET YOU CAN CUT A HUGE FRACTION OF YOUR DAILY CALORIES BY NOT DRINKING THEM, I know I did.
Tough decisions have to be made, or else everyone would be able to shop for clothes at the cool stores. Right???
ENJOY THE RIDE
