#234: Too Many Big Words?
Thursday, February 18, 2010
I once had a professor who was strongly against the appearance of "big" words in our class papers. His motto was, "Never utilize utilize when you can use use."
On the door to his office was this warning:
If you must come in, remember:
In promulgating your esoteric cogitations, or articulating your philosophical or psychological observations, beware of a platitudinous ponderosity. Let your conversational communications possess a clarified conciseness, a compact comprehensibleness and a coalescent consistency.
In other words:
BE BRIEF!
Thought you might enjoy a laugh. Have a good night.
