I've never been a religious person but my husband and I have recently made a commitment to ourselves and our children to attend church. Eric is Catholic, so I'm currently navigating through classes in order to become a card-carrying Catholic.
Anyways, we end each class with a prayer. I wanted to share this week's prayer with my friends because I feel that it applies to me and my weight loss attempts.
"Transform us, O Risen Christ.
Shake loose from our frozen hearts the faith, hope and love needed to bring about your reign of love.
Unblock the obstacles that distract us from seeing you in all your glory; in the people we encounter, the creation we take for granted, and the crosses we grudgingly carry.
Awaken us from the sleep of overindulgence and excess. Make us fully alive to your mystical presence.
I need to be awakened from my sleep of overindulgence and excess. I love things to excess, usually things that aren't great for me. Before meeting Eric and having children I had a few toxic monkeys that I carried around on my back. I've replaced those monkeys, and now food is my vice. It's time for me to see food as it is intended, as fuel for my body. A body that I hope will become much more active so I can play with my children.
