My first 5K... This weekend

Friday, March 05, 2010

Ok - first thanks to all of my spark buddies who have inspired me... I am finally going to do it. I've signed up for my first 5K.. and I refused to let myself think about it too long - because I found myself saying negative things... "Are you kidding?" "Sure it's a flat course, but come on." (yes, I drove it to see how many hills there were) and "Maybe I should do the 1 mile fun run this time and wait for the 5K."

Here's why I decided against all that negative talk... Every person I've read about on here that has done a 5K has:
1. Loved the experience
2. Said they waited too long to do the first one.

So, I've paid my money... I'm going to pick up my can goods this afternoon (part of the entry fee), and I'll be doing the 5K tomorrow morning at 9:00 eastern time. I'll let you all know how great it was...

Go for it! I just ran my first 5K two weeks ago and my second one is next weekend. I was running against CRAZY winds and it was brutal. I had to stop and walk at my water breaks, but I ended up doing really great and even passing some people. Even though I had to walk a little, it wasn't a big deal because TONS of people walked toward the end. Don't worry about it all. Congrats for accomplishing your goal. You are going to love it!!
