Back home...miss the activity level...

Saturday, March 06, 2010

Here I am, taking a break on the Sarapiqui River, after white water rafting for over an hour. The next day was ziplining, and the day after that, kayaking.

So, why am I back home, barely doing any exercise at home? Back to the grind...teaching classes, correcting papers, cooking, cleaning,etc...and NOT exercising. You would have thought that the 6 pound loss would have energized me to lose even more right after I got home, and I'm not.

AT LEAST this time, I notice what I'm doing. My son is home from college for spring break, and plan to ask him for help in getting me back on track. He's very athletic and will push me if I ask him. Wish I didn't need that extra push, but with snow still outside, it seems I do.

I'm convinced that I will continue to lose, especially as the weather warms up and I can get outside, but I can tell that I still am not where I want to be.

I was SO PROUD of everything I did in Costa Rica...WHY can't I keep that up???

Congrats on the 6 pounds! I bet you'll do wonderfully, especially with a little push! Good luck, it looks like you had an amazing adventure!

We all have that problem - The boys & I walk everywhere in Europe, but drive here. We eat more "adventuresome" and healthier things there, but fall back into old habits here. You will keep going, though - because you notice what's going on, so you will work to get back to like you were on the trip. Having your son push you is a great idea. We're here, too!

Don't be so hard on yourself. Those are activities people don't do very often. Do you have any home gym equipment? How about a gym membership? You can sign up for a class, which will keep you very active many days out of the week. The good thing is that you're acknowledging the fact that you have not been as active as you should. Try yoga in the morning, or do some light exercise during your planning period.
Once this weather warms up a bit, you can enjoy the outdoors and exercise a lot more. Spring will be here before you know it. :)
