"Play Hard or Don't Play at All"

My second bike ride of the season is planned for this coming Thursday.....30-50 miles. It is a bike path, so however far I ride out, I am guaranteed to ride double that in order to get back to my car. My reason for doing this? Just because I want to. Do I have anything to prove to anybody? Nope. Do I have something to prove to myself? Nope. I've rode 31 miles before, so I know I can do 30. Just hopefully faster this time...my cardio is much improved since last year, so the ride should (in theory) be easier this time. Last year, I had to stop every 3-5 miles to catch my breath and stretch my legs, this year I can ride at least 10 before I'll need a break.
My long term goal for this bike-riding season is a century ride this summer. My reason for wanting to do that? Just to be able to say "I DID IT"!!! No, really, if I actually do a century ride, then next year...Summer of 2011 I will do a charity ride, either the PanMass Challenge, or the MS Ride. So this bike ride coming up in 2 days is carrying a lot of weight for me. When I pull this off, I'll know with certainty that I can meet or exceed any goals (within reason) that I set for myself....hence my New Year's motto of "Play Hard or Don't Play at All"
