#264: How Deep Is Your Foundation?
Saturday, March 20, 2010
The taller a building, the deeper its foundation must be.
In Mark 7 we are taught that:
"Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock."
"And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock."
"And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand."
"And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it."
This Biblical story of the house being built on a weak foundation of sand shows us that life is tenuous. It also reminds us that there exists a higher power to tap into, one that has the deepest foundation in the universe.
Remember, it is nearly impossible to get the rest of a house right if the foundation is not built right. And, it is as impossible for us to get our lives straightened out if our attitudes are weak.
Wise people know that life will have its share of storms, that all will not be quiet and peaceful. Oftentimes, our lives are filled with tempests that test our faith. We can not ignore these rocky times. We must face them head-on and know that calm and rainbows will soon follow.
How high in life do you want to go? Do you have something other than the physical world to believe in?
How deep is your foundation?
