#278: A Journey of Compassion, Hope and Gratitude

Saturday, April 03, 2010

It's easy to take our friends for granted. One way to let them know that you appreciate them is to send them a quick note to show you are thinking of them.

That is what I did last night when I wanted to let all of my emoticons know that I hope they have a fun weekend. I chose a colorful bouquet of balloons emoticon as the Goodie. As I perused every profile page, I was reacquainted with my SP friends and their updated news and photos. Some pages made me sad emoticon, others made me laugh emoticon. For all, a prayer was offered for good health and a successful weight loss/fitness journey emoticon.

It was a chance to encourage several college students to continue studying hard emoticon and to offer hope that a pregnant mother and her baby were healthy emoticon. For the law enforcement friends it was an opportunity to wish them safety in their work. For my bowling team friends I was able to ask how their bowling was progressing as the season nears an end emoticon.

I was inspired at the weight loss shown on many profile pages and the determination spelled out in the member's words. There were stories of grief and accomplishment, pages that read like travelogues and some that read like personal diaries. There were photos of people, pets, children, mountains, deserts, oceans, houses, cars, angels and so much more that kept me fascinated during my visits emoticon emoticon emoticon.

Mostly, there was the encouragement to be offered with the Goodie notes. Sometimes just hoping for a fun weekend, other times something more personal. But for every page I visited, I left a bit of compassion and wishes for a better future.

It was a journey to stay in touch as much as it was one to stay up-to-date with those who have honored me by adding me as a SparkFriend emoticon. It was a journey that reinforced my commitment to my own weight loss and that filled me with joy, happiness and sometimes sorrow for the situations my friends are facing.

It was a journey of compassion, hope and gratitude that made last night and continues to make today one of thankfulness for those who have expressed a desire to stay in touch. Letting others know we're thinking of them takes time we often don't have much of. But, for now, you all know that I appreciate every one of you and the support and encouragement you give me daily emoticon.

emoticon Be well. Always believe in yourself and look for the positive side to all situations.

Do so, and you WILL be successful. emoticon

You will never know the full extent of how your note lifted someone's heart in a weary moment, breezed a whisper of hope on a dark day, gave a virtual hug to someone feeling very alone just then. Hooray for your caring spirit and active initiative, to use technology for that warm human touch!
