#279: Everyday Can Be Like Easter
Sunday, April 04, 2010
Today was Easter Sunday, a special day of inspiration and hope. Just as every day can be.
When we awake in the mornings we face unlimited opportunities. Our lives may seem dreary and at a dead end but these are merely characteristics of our circumstances and our situations. They do not reflect our minds, our hopes and our dreams.
"No matter how dark things seem to be or actually are, raise your sights and see the possibilities - always see them, for they're always there." Norman Vincent Peale
Envisioning the possibilities of life raises us out of our doldrums into the stratosphere of infinite opportunities. Such thinking transcends the often menial tasks of our jobs and the chores that occupy our time.
"Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible." Saint Francis
Practice focusing positively on your vision for your life. What do you truly want to do? How can you work toward that goal every day? Not to ignore your responsibilities at work and at home. Not at all. But, without a goal to strive for, we take the chance of falling into despair and depression because we believe our lives have little or no value.
Is there something you have always wanted to do? Play the clarinet? Write short stories? Learn knitting or woodworking, plumbing or cooking? What steps can you take toward achieving that goal? Attend adult education classes? Sign up for lessons?
Open your mind to life's possibilities and realize that our time on earth is limited. If we do not try to reach for the stars today, we will forever regret it.
Life is not the work we do nor is it the errands we run. Life is the joy and pleasure we derive from the activities that bring us happiness. It is the inspiration we keep in mind throughout each day.
Yes, today was a day of inspiration and hope. Just as every day can be. Stay positive and believe in your possibilities.
