After loosing my dad in january to a heart attack i had my cholesteral checked and found it to be highh (5.9) , and so ive started a new eating/exercise plan basically imve cut out red meat and cheese and most processed foods, im also taking plant sterols in the form of yougurt drinks. if any one has any advice for me i would greatly appreciate it as i would really rather not have to start taking statin. x

    Hi, yes I believe Donna is right. Keep away from red meat and saturated fats (there the one's that are solid when cold). Stick with olive oil, or better still get used to cooking with no fat at all. You WILL get to like it - I've just cooked a scrummy bolognese sauce without a bit of fat. Can't wait to eat it!

    Sorry I've personally been lucky with my cholesterol levels (glad about this cos I love my eggs) but on the WWW I've seen it suggest fibre - oats, fatty fish and olive oil. No butter, ice cream that sort of thing. Sorry if this is no help at all. Just want you to know I care. Really sorry about your dad.
