Afraid to move my ticker

Monday, April 19, 2010

I set off on ny Hawaiian adventure hoping to get myself back on track for weight loss and exercise. I have made some progress as I said in my last blog. I do have a funny problem though. It has been so long since I have seen weight loss that now I am afraid to move my ticker down.

It seems ridiculous even to myself because I should be excited but somehow after nearly a year I had learned to go with my weight of 254.5. It bounced up a few times and down a p0und or so but that has been it for a long time. I weighed myself last Monday and again this Monday and I am down 4 pounds. When I first started losing I couldn't wait to move my ticker now I waited from one week to the next to make sure it was really REAL.

Thanks for listening now I guess I better go move that ticker and work hard at keeping it moving again next week and so on and on and on until I reach my final goal.

Thanks so much for your comment on my blog, Chris! Your Hawaii trip sounds wonderful - what a great way to refocus your energies. I love it there.

It's helped me in the past to look at my weight loss over a longer time frame - I have less to lose, so I tend to go up and down a LOT, but as long as the general trend is down, I'm happy! Having the data to look back at has helped me realize that, so it was definitely beneficial to keep track of my weight, even when I wasn't too happy with what the scale said that week!

    emoticon on your weight loss!

I assume you're worried that if you change your ticker, you'll just have to change it back because the weight will bounce back up. I can understand that. Personally, I always just put in my actual weight, the losses and the gains. I feel like it keeps me honest with myself. I have been known to take time off from weighing in though, usually when I'm just sure I've gained. (Last fall was an example of that -- my weigh-ins were few and far between from August to December.)

Your Hawaii trip sounds like it's going great! I hope you find it easy to keep up the good habits when you return.

    Keep up the good work!
