Dangerous Backslide Under Control

Thursday, April 29, 2010

Finally got myself anchored from a major backslide. I was going great and had lost 55 pounds when my backslide started about five weeks ago. I regained 18 pounds and was in danger of gaining it all back which is what has happened to me so many times before. I had reacquired the sugar addiction and lost the desire to eat healthy food. I could see myself spiraling out of control. I made an attempt to get under control about a week ago, but it only lasted a day. I went to a baseball game and the ribs, chili dogs, ice cream, beer, french fries were too tempting. I broke down again. Now, I've been on track within my calorie range for three days and I've broken the sugar addiction. I've lost seven of the 18 pounds I gained during my slide, which makes me feel good. I realize I am still in a fragile condition and must be diligent to make sure the addictions do not resurface. I have a chance now and I want to make the most of it.

I'm glad you're started again. Somehow those plateaus and slips come along sooner or later for everyone, and it's a lot harder to get started again than it was to keep going. I have spells where I don't eat too much for a while without any special effort on my part, and other times where you just shouldn't let your fingers get in the way. That's been true even while I'm just trying to stay even. Congratulations on hanging in there. emoticon

Good for you for stopping the slide and getting "back on the program" again. Baseball season always affects my scheduling, since I can't work out after work if I want to get to the Park on time. I've walked there before and might try that a few times to get in some exercise.
