I was eating my lunch at my desk and catching up on my Sparking when I came to today’s blog by Confusedbird. She had photos of her walk with fellow Sparkers. Her photos inspired me to go for my own walk. I finished up my lunch, changed my shoes and grabbed my mp3 player and my camera, and off I went.
I went down the elevator, out the building doors, and across the street to the park where I got on to the bike path. I walked briskly and stopped momentarily every so often to take some pictures along the way. There were geese, swans and ducks that I wanted to snap photos of, but they’re always along the river, so I can wait to take some shots of them next time. To my delight, I spotted some turtles that were sunning themselves on a tree branch that was in the water.
The sun felt absolutely amazing, the scenery was beautiful, and it felt really good to get out into nature instead of sitting at my desk for my lunch. Thanks, Confusedbird for being such an inspiration and motivation to me.
When I got back to the office, I calculated the distance I travelled. I walked for 32 minutes and travelled approximately 1.7 km in each direction (about 2.1 miles total).
I’m thinking that this is something that I’m going to try to do every day. There are so many different paths that I can take for my walk, so there's no chance that I'll get bored. I’ll have to remember to bring in my old runners so that I have better shoes to walk in, The ones I wore today are flat, but they have no padding or support and I know that over an extended period of time I'll end up having issues with them.
I’m also thinking that I need to bring my other camera with me too. The one I had on today’s walk isn’t a bad camera, it’s compact, and perfect for keeping in my bag, but the photos from my other camera are so much nicer. Here are some of the shots I took today…..
