~*+*~Lovin the Gluten Free Life~*+*~

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Who knew (Not I) that I didn't have to feel sick everytime after I ate! Makes so much sense now, knowing that I was gluten intolerant and eating so many different forms of gluten and feeling so sick all the time.
I blamed feeling sick on an abusive past, blamed it on sugar, soda, weight, blamed the weight on the PCOS...

Well, I gave up soda, some positive results, though nothing earth shaking, still a healthy move and personal victory to know I could do it.

Gave up my old favorite food, pasta, but no results at all ...so I would add it back in.

Would try to workout, and would always, everytime, without fail, no matter what time of year, GET SICK after a few days to 2 weeks of working out!!! Bizzare, but kept happening.

Had also tried Atkins with some good results, and feeling good, it only lasted a short while.
Lactose intolerence hindered me there and so did all the hidden gluten I didn't know about
at that time.

Now that I have known since about May 10th that I had a basket full of Celiac symptoms, and should go gluten free to see if anything improved....well it has been just about two weeks now, and I can say the difference is miraculous.

I feel so much better, and while it is taking some initial research to find out what is gluten free, along the way I have found out what isn't full of gluten- which means no more feeling guilty over a cup of coffee with cream and sugar:) no more feeling guilty over eating potatos!

I feel fantastic, the horrible brain fog has lifted! Numbness has lifted, my mood is LIFTED, I feel so Gifted!! LOL I am going from grumpus to a general feeling of wellbeing and happiness I have never EVER felt before in my life, like this gluten fog I've been forever is just blown away!!!! I am sleeping better, my HAIR stopped falling out!!! And it is now growing! My hair hadn't been growing at all, it was more dry than a brittle, dead leaf, zero shine, and now it has some shine back and looks alive, not dead anymore!!! My joint are not aching like I'm 89! I had not typically sweated at all, now I do, sounds gross, but true, our bodies need to sweat to get ride of toxins, I mean I was in the ARMY and didn't sweat!!! Yesterday it was hot out and I sweat just doing chores, sounds odd, but it was another victory to getting my body back on track!!!!

There are tons of mini improvements, I cannot list them all right now, one keep one is the feeling of being so happy, peacefull, alive and in the moment! I cannot believe how alive I feel, this morning as I walked back to the car after taking kids to school, it just felt soooo good, just to feel everything and be alive, it made feel like my life was similar to tuning in the channel on a radio or tv, the dramatic difference between being able to just barely able to see the fuzzy picture on the tv, and seeing it in HD, guess in someways, like the claratin commercials!
*just a note* while it is common for celiacs to be underweight, recent studies are finding that it is JUST AS common for them to be overweight or obese;) *
& I lost 1.6 pounds in the first week without trying. emoticon

There is such a dramatic shift that it wasn't much past the first week and one day my husband really made me smile when he said "the old Glutened Chris" wouldn't have been able to do that, that is when I realized how he saw the change too, it was not just on the inside, it was shining through to him too:) That makes it worth it to stand there and scrutinize the lables in the store, to clear out my cupboards of wheat tainted products, and to see the look on his face, and feel what I knew we were both seeing in me...the real me had arrived:)

Blessings to you,
